(1mEdAbcD) Zingiber officinale Edible ginger we know so well. Actually it is the rhizome (thickened root) we use in cooking. Rich green lance shaped leaves and yellow green and purple unusual and attractive flowers. This is a perennial plant and dies down in winter to reemerge in spring, growing off its rhizome. Its the rhizome we eat. Native of Southern Asia and likes warm conditions in part shade or light sun. Rhizomes in 70mm pots.
